A convenient and regular bus service departs from the village to the pretty medieval city of Grasse “the perfume capital of France.” Grasse has been a popular tourist town for many centuries, some of its former vacationers include Queen Victoria who came here several times, staying at the Rothschild’s or at the Grand Hotel.

With the smell of flowers (mostly Jasmine) and clean air (300 metres up on the beautiful pre-alps Provencal hills), it is the world’s capital of perfume, its reputation through its many perfume houses and perfume museums speaking for itself.
You will become deliciously disoriented in the many narrow winding streets and stairways surrounding the old Saracen towers, the bishop’s palace, the medieval houses, the lovely mansions and old villas, as well as the former Belle Epoque casino (now closed). Not forgetting the cafes, terraces, market places, artists' workplaces, vaulted passageways and freshly painted red and yellow ochre house fronts. A delight! |
